Digital marketing is one of the most in-demand job in 2022. Many companies today are in need of data analysts, software developers, digital marketer, project manager, artificial intelligence, user-experience designer, content writer, graphic designer, social media marketers, and market researchers.

This was the outline of the guest lecture from the Managing Director of the Teman Sebangku Group, Risky Danie Fahrulloh, at SBM ITB (14/10/2022). Risky, a former digital marketer at Blibli.com, said that the rise of the digital marketer profession was due to changes in human behavior and life patterns, from conventional to digital.

With total users reaching 62.5% of the world’s total population and growing at 4% per year, the potential for internet market share is enormous. This great potential of the digital world is what many companies want to absorb in to compete in the future. Thus, the role of digital marketing is vast to support this potential.

According to Risky, digital marketing is a series of marketing actions to promote a product or service through digital channels involving electronic devices. Digital marketing itself can be divided into several parts: social media marketing, electronic mail marketing, influencer marketing, promotion via short messages, search engine optimization, and others.

The main aspect of digital marketing is a promotional campaign through various social media, divided into three stages. The first is the campaign, where we need to determine the object of the goal along with the financing budget. Second, we need to specify more technical things, such as scheduling, target market, and ad placement that we will run. After all the plans are ready, the last thing that needs to be done is to act according to the plan by creating social media accounts, creating information content, and other essential items.
