The Sans Corp Team, a team of students from the Management Study Program, Institut Teknologi Bandung, has made a brilliant achievement in the 2023 HSBC Business Case Competition. They won second place at the national level, beating tough competitors from various universities in Indonesia. This victory is a testament to the excellence and dedication of the Sans Corp Team in solving business problems and current global issues.

The HSBC Business Case Competition is an annual competition organized by HSBC Bank to increase students’ knowledge and skills in solving complex business problems and dealing with environmental issues and sustainable development. This competition was attended by various universities worldwide, starting from the regional, national, and international levels.

Ramel Akil Pratama, a member of the Sans Corp Team, explained, “The uniqueness of this competition is that participants must be able to solve business cases in six hours in groups. The cases raised relate to the problems multinational companies face on environmental issues and sustainable development.”

In addition to leveraging their intelligence, Team Sans Corp showcased remarkable synergy and collaborative skills while preparing for this competition. The team spent approximately two months preparing for the event following their successful advancement from the regional-level elimination round in Bandung, starting in February.

Evan Ricardo Ang, a member of the Sans Corp Team, elaborated, “Upon qualifying for the national preliminary round, we were fortunate to participate in a mentoring program facilitated by HSBC mentors. This program involved regular mentoring sessions held 1 to 3 times a week. Throughout the mentoring process, we were presented with various business cases encompassing diverse aspects, including marketing, strategy, and sustainability issues.”

The Sans Corp team carried out an effective and efficient division of tasks to maximize preparation time. Evan explained, “Evan focuses on problem definition, Florenza and Eli focus on solutions, while Akil on implementation. We always take the time to read cases carefully and conduct thorough discussions to equate perceptions of the problem-solving for the cases.”
