SBM ITB is supporting the 2025 West Java Entrepreneurial Champion Program (JAWARA), which was officially launched at the ITB East Hall, Bandung, on Friday (16/5). In collaboration with the West Java Education Office, the JAWARA Program aims to foster entrepreneurship among vocational high school students by leveraging data and technology, involving cross-sector collaboration between education and industry. Program partners include SBM ITB, the GEMA Foundation, PT CHOLORINE, Telkomsel, and ENI-VOKE from SEAQIS. Provides Three Bootcamps

SBM ITB plays a key role through its bootcamp programs, which are designed to strengthen decision-making skills through data analysis. These include training in Business Analytics and Creative Entrepreneurship for students, teachers, and MSME actors, aiming to enhance their capabilities in business analysis and data-driven innovation. The programs offered are the Data Detective Bootcamp, Business Analytics Bootcamp, and Entrepreneurship & Creative Learning Bootcamp.

“This program is designed to develop data- and technology-based entrepreneurship among vocational school students, equip teachers to serve as business mentors, and enhance understanding of design thinking and cloud analytics, in line with the EDYP initiative,” said Edy Purwanto, Head of the Vocational High School Development Division at the West Java Provincial Education Office, during his report on the implementation of JAWARA 2025.

Meanwhile, Shimaditya Nuraeni, a representative of the SBM ITB Big Data and Business Analytics Lab, emphasized the growing importance of data in business decision-making. In today’s digital era, surveys are no longer the only tool; data processing enables more accurate decision-making across all fields, including vocational education.

“For example, sales trend data can provide insight into which products to develop next, or what marketing steps to take after analyzing promotion outcomes on social media,” he explained.

He added that 70% of businesses are currently unable to convert data into profit. Poor data management often leads to flawed decisions, operational and financial inefficiencies, and missed market opportunities.

SBM ITB will present Data Detective Bootcamp, an exclusive program for vocational schools that will run from July 2025 to February 2026, as part of the JAWARA 2025 Program. This program offers a comprehensive curriculum delivered in monthly sessions led by experts.

“All vocational school majors are invited to take part in this training to gain richer perspectives, encouraging collaboration in a problem-based learning approach,” explained Shima.

The Business Analytics Bootcamp, a three-day program, involves 900 participants, including students and teachers from high schools, vocational schools, and Islamic high schools, as well as MSME actors. It offers training in three key areas: marketing, finance, and dashboard development for business monitoring.

Specifically for vocational school teachers, SBM ITB offers the Entrepreneurship & Creative Learning Bootcamp, a two-day program focused on design thinking, 21st-century skills development, and negotiation training.

“If we train students in the PWK program to sell, then this program invites PKK, KWU, and BK teachers to learn how to negotiate with suppliers and consumers,” he concluded.

All bootcamp programs are designed to be practical and hands-on, guided by professional mentors from SBM ITB. The initiative involves collaboration between the Big Data and Business Analytics Laboratory and academic groups such as Entrepreneurship and Technology Management (ETM), Decision Making and Strategic Negotiation (DMSN), Human and Knowledge Management (PKM), Business Strategy and Marketing (BSM), Business Risk and Finance (BRF), and Operations and Performance Management (OPM).

The JAWARA program is expected to serve as a model and source of inspiration for entrepreneurship development in vocational schools across Indonesia. Through collaboration and innovation, the program seeks to contribute to economic growth and food security in West Java and the broader Indonesian context, aligning with the vision of Special West Java.
