Startups participating in the Greater Hub incubation program had the opportunity to learn about the role of legality in building credibility, attracting investors, and accelerating business growth on Friday (October 31st). The session was delivered by Muhammad Philosophi, Founder of Documenta.id, a legal tech company that helps businesses manage legal documents.
The event commenced with a simple question: what were each participant’s business goals? From there, the discussion shifted to the different legal needs for each business scale. Philosophi compared legality to a vehicle helping businesses reach their destination faster.
“Once we determine our destination, we will definitely get there; it just depends on how long it takes and which route we choose,” he said.
Philosophi seeks to change the perception that legal matters are complicated and restrictive. He emphasized that legal documents actually drive growth and support trust. With proper legality, startups can convince investors and run their businesses more efficiently.
He also emphasized that business development is not just about sales, but also about unlocking new growth strategies. Startups can expand their businesses through collaborations with larger companies or by raising capital through investments, grants, or loans. Documents such as Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), contracts, and NDAs are crucial for maintaining accountability and protecting all parties.
Closing the session, Philosophi reminded participants that legality is more than just an administrative matter.
“Legal documents are the language of trust. Once you have them, your business not only grows, but also thrives,” he said.
Through this session, Greater Hub incubation participants gained an understanding that legal aspects are not merely obligations, but also the foundation for growth. With the right legal framework, startups can develop, collaborate, and build trust amidst business competition. Greater Hub is a regular program of SBM ITB to improve the capabilities of startups, particularly in West Java.
