SBM ITB is expanding its international network through the launch of a new Double Degree program in collaboration with ESSCA School of Management, France. While the two institutions have maintained a long-standing partnership through student exchange programs, this new agreement marks a significant milestone—transitioning from a traditional exchange framework to a structured, degree-granting collaboration.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), held offline at the ITB Jakarta Campus on Thursday, March 5, 2026. ESSCA School of Management is a leading French business school with “Triple Crown” accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA), operating campuses in several international locations, including Budapest, Málaga, and Shanghai.
This partnership is designed for the SBM ITB Bachelor’s in Management program and provides students with the opportunity to earn two undergraduate degrees:
- A bachelor’s degree in international management from ESSCA
- A Sarjana Manajemen (SM) from Institut Teknologi Bandung
Students will benefit from immersive, cross-cultural academic experiences:
- SBM ITB students will complete their first four semesters in Bandung before continuing their studies at ESSCA campuses in locations such as Paris, Budapest, or Malaga.
- ESSCA students will join the SBM ITB community for three semesters, gaining valuable insights into Indonesia’s dynamic business landscape.
The agreement was signed by the Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Aurik Gustomo, and the Dean and CEO of ESSCA Group, Dr. Jean Charroin. The ceremony was also witnessed by the University and Education Cooperation Attaché from the French Embassy, Mr. Antoine Bricout, along with representatives from both institutions.
In his remarks, Dr. Jean Charroin noted that the collaboration had been in development since 2019 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are very enthusiastic to finally realize this collaboration. This is not just a student exchange, but a long-term partnership built on shared values and academic excellence,” he stated.
Dr. Charroin also emphasized the important role of the French Embassy in strengthening educational ties between Indonesia and France.
Prof. Aurik Gustomo warmly welcomed the ESSCA delegation, highlighting that this collaboration represents a significant step in strengthening SBM ITB’s global presence.
“With this double degree program, students will gain learning experiences in two distinct business ecosystems—Indonesia and France—broadening their perspectives as future leaders,” he said.
In addition to the double degree program, both institutions explored opportunities for deeper research collaboration, including the utilization of SBM ITB’s facilities such as the Neuro-Business Lab, as well as alignment with ESSCA’s “Kairos 2024–2027” strategic plan.
Through this partnership, SBM ITB aims to further elevate international education standards and contribute meaningfully to the development of globally competitive graduates, in line with ITB’s vision of becoming an internationally recognized university.
