Designed for those who have completed Master of Science in Management from SBM ITB or master with research components from other universities, DSM for Academicians is the right track for you whose orientation is in theoretical contribution and desire a career path to be a future researcher or lecturer.

This program is flexible and interdisciplinary, applying social science theory and research methods to management problems. It offers specializations in Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, Business Risk and Finance, Business Strategy and Marketing, Operation and Performance Management, Decision Making and Strategic Negotiation, and People and Knowledge Management.

Year 1: The Qualification

Develop a basic understanding of the philosophy of management science, literature review, problem statement, research contribution, hypotheses, research methodologies, scientific paper writing, and research proposal.

How to Apply

Annually, DSM ITB commence classes on August. Early preparation become the important step to enrol and start an embarking journey with DSM ITB.

Notes: Student who have passed the limit of normal study period (6 semesters) will be charged IDR 25,000,000/extra semester Confirmation fee and all the tuition fees cannot be refunded in all conditions, including when students fail to register or finish the program. SBM ITB reserves the right to adjust the above information.


Available for up to 6 students covers course tuition fees (IDR 150 million in total) and monthly living allowance (IDR 2.5 million) for three years or 6 semesters. Working space is provided in Bandung campus to support the research. The scholarship is excluded costs of dissertation writing, international conferences and publication.


  1. Applicants are required to have successfully completed all the DSM admission requirements.

Awardee obligations

  1. Candidates should work full-time (7.30 am until 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday)
  2. Candidates are required to meet academic service at Bachelor degree programs and/or other units at SBM ITB with load up to 6 credits/semester
  3. Candidates must maintain a minimum of 3.5 GPA, and never retake courses
  4. Candidates must have at least one paper that is accepted in indexed-international journals (such as indexed by Copernicus, Proquest, Directory of Open Access Journals-DOAJ, EBSCOhost) or Scopus-indexed international journals by end of the second year
  5. The scholarship will be ended if at least one of above obligations is not met
