Course Structure

Aalto-ITB Executive Program

Marketing (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE
This module looks at the various forms marketing takes in contemporary international organizations. Marketing can be viewed as a process, a set of skills and competences, a way of thinking, or a strategic concern, and this module aims to provide the participants with a holistic view on this multifaceted discipline. The module covers themes such as understanding and analyzing marketing contexts, generating and applying market and customer insight, designing winning value propositions, communicating customer value through brands and integrated marketing communication, developing and executing effective marketing plans and go-to-market strategies, measuring the impact of marketing investments, and understanding the value of strategic marketing. The module gives participants an overview of the most used tools and concepts in marketing as well as a comprehensive appreciation of the most important phenomena associated with marketing in today’s business world.

Operations and Supply Chain Management (3 credits) – ITB
The main goal of operations management is to delivering a firm’s goods and services in the most effective manner. A great deal of focus is on efficiency and effectiveness of processes. At the fundamental level, it deals with getting the day-to-day work done quickly, efficiently, without errors, and at low cost. And this is a critical responsibility of every manager.

Business Ethics, Law and Sustainability (3 credits) – ITB
Business Ethics, Law, and Sustainability introduces MBA students to basic ethical and legal perspectives and related cases that are expected to provide the basic motivation to promote sustainability in and through business activities. Moreover, it is expected that students become aware of the complexity of business activities and are willing to take a more holistic approach, through the lenses of ethics, law, and sustainability combined, in initiating and implementing business initiatives and transactions.

Financial Report and Control (2 credits) – ITB
Financial accounting is the means by which a firm’s transactions are recorded, compiled, and narrated to the reader, the end result which conveys the company’s financial condition. Financial accounting has also evolved in a new and exciting direction in which the accounting standards of individual countries are at present being harmonized with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Personal and Organizational Leadership (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE
Participants will be provided an opportunity to develop and improve leadership competencies at the individual, interpersonal, and team level for effectively leading organizations. The module explores concepts and theories regarding the multiple roles individuals play in their organizations, including leading, coaching, and managing conflict. Whether one tries to introduce a new idea, manage a team, restructure a project, or cope effectively with change;, better understanding, valid theory, and leadership skills are useful and needed.

Economic and Business Landscape Analysis (3 credits) – ITB
This course will provide the knowledge and skills on how to make decision making with the consideration of macroeconomics and microeconomics. Consideration of macroeconomics include: economic cycle and growth, national income accounting, AS/AD Model, Multiplier Model, Money Market Model, Fiscal and Monetary Policy, digital economy, and challenges of developing countries. Consideration of microeconomics will include: supply and demand, elasticities, production and cost analysis, cost curve, market structure and game theory.

Financial Management and Policy (3 credits) – ITB
This course focuses on the role of and how the financial manager maximize the value of the firm through four most important financial decision making: 1) investment (capital budgeting); 2) financing (capital structure); 3) payout (dividend) policy; and 4) working capital (current assets and current liabilities) management. Special topics on finance such as merger & acquisition or other contemporary topics also will be further explored and discussed.

Strategic Decision Making and Negotiation (3 credits) – ITB
This course provides understanding, knowledge and skills in decision making and negotiation through a range of relevant ideas, issues and frameworks that will allow for the development of competencies in making decisions and creating value in negotiation.

Strategic Management (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE
The domain of the Strategic Management module is to explore alternate approaches and styles needed for developing and maintaining the long-term viability of contemporary businesses and other organizations. The module presents key concepts and frameworks that organizational decision makers can employ to negotiate the very turbulent and challenging environment confronting them. The primary focus is on fundamental issues in strategy: situation analysis, core competence, competitive strategy, and value-capturing business models.

Research Methodology for Business (2 credits) – ITB
Conducting research methods is essential for business practitioners before making decisions. Students will understand the skills needed to plan, organize, and conduct research. In essence, the research method is related to the way of data collection (data collection) and how to analyze the data (data analysis). By following the correct research method, the business decisions taken will be evidence-based, systematic, and well-accounted for.

Final Project (3 credits) – ITB
This course is intended for Master’s level students to develop a Master’s final project. In this course, students will submit their final project draft, make all necessary revisions to the draft, and finalize their final project document. Students will work independently guided by their thesis supervisors to complete their Master’s Final Project.

Innovation Management (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE
This module will set the stage and help the participants better understand innovation as a driver of growth and a means to protect existing business and achieve competitive advantage. The course also describes the organizational impacts of the different emerging technologies in specific industries, and strategic perspectives beneficial in dealing with innovation issues.

Service Management (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE
Service management is an essential part for successfully transferring a business from being product-centric and merely selling products to a customer-centric organization that actually satisfies customer needs. This module approaches the foundations of service business based on a three-stage model of service consumption and a characterization of services following information economics. Special attention will be paid to service quality issues on the Internet. Given the general failure-proneness of service encounters, strategies for designing effective service recovery will be discussed. Finally, service management will be linked to the bottom line when introducing the service-profit chain.

Communications (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE

This module explores key communication skills and strategies that enable managers to communicate effectively within organizational contexts. The class examines current theories of communication strategy and provides decision-making frameworks and analytical tools that allow participants to plan and deliver effective messages. Participants also have opportunities to practice, improve, and receive feedback on their skills as business presenters, business writers, and interpersonal communicators.

Digital Strategy and Transformation (4.5 ECTS) – Aalto EE
The digital strategy and transformation module provides students with an in-depth understanding of the ongoing changes in various industries that result from digital technologies. As digital technologies mature, the key barriers to digital transformation lie in management and organizing. The module will cover the newest theoretical frameworks and ideas connected to digital ecosystems, platforms, business models, and management practices. The course investigates changes in industry structures, customer relationships and services, organizational design, capabilities, and culture to understand the catalysts and barriers to digital transformation. While focusing on management, we will also go through recent developments in information technology and artificial intelligence, real-time data, and analytics, along with emerging business applications in service and manufacturing industries. The participants will discuss case studies to develop their abilities in designing and implementing digital transformations.
