The Roulette Project, a student company participating in the Integrated Business Experience (IBE) 2 course at the School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), successfully carried out the Kitabisa Voluntrip in Bandung on May 10th. The Kitabisa Voluntrip is an initiative by Kitabisa that provides a platform for members of the public who wish to volunteer, allowing them to engage directly in the field and distribute aid to beneficiaries.

The event, titled “A Dose of Happiness: Painting, Calligraphy, and Flower Arranging with Grandmothers at the Budi Pertiwi Social Home for the Elderly,” was organized by Roulette as part of the Kitabisa Voluntrip in Bandung. The gathering brought together 20 grandmothers and 20 volunteers to engage in calligraphy, painting, and flower-arranging activities in a warm and interactive atmosphere at the nursing home.

Roulette is an IBE 2 student company that offers a 2-in-1 necklace-bracelet product in four variations inspired by poker cards. Each variant has a different meaning: the heart symbolizes kindness and empathy, the spade represents fearlessness, the club represents those who value nature and life, and the diamond represents strength and self-worth. Beyond its product focus, Roulette also regularly donates 5% of its revenue to various social programs and community activities.

During the volunteer trip, Roulette guided activities for volunteers and the elderly at the orphanage. The atmosphere warmed as the participants began to get to know each other and engage in conversations. Roulette also gave out diamond products to the volunteers, selected for their blue color, which symbolizes the Kitabisa Voluntrip and embodies strength and self-worth.

“The activity was really fun. I was nervous at first, but over time I bonded with my friends and the grandmothers here, too. We had a great time together. I liked the Roulette product on my first impression; it’s simple yet imbued with a philosophy. I happen to like the blue color (diamond variant) too, so I really liked it. It’s a 10 out of 10,” said one volunteer.

“It was really fun and totally worth it. I enjoyed meeting new people and chatting with the grandmothers here. The Roulette product is really good, very Gen Z and trendy. I also happen to like the color blue. My rating is from 1 to 10, an 11,” said another volunteer with a laugh.

This activity illustrates that learning about business goes beyond just profit and operational aspects. It also emphasizes how a business can create a meaningful social impact. Ultimately, business is not only about generating profits but also about ensuring that its values and benefits positively affect the community.
