Ganesha Business Festival (GBF) 2026, an event organised by SBM ITB at Summarecon Mall Bandung on 30th May 2026, invited Ahmad Dekatama, also known as ‘Pasming-Based’, as a guest speaker in the event. As a guest speaker, he shared his journey as a content creator, explaining the ins and outs of the role and how entrepreneurs can fully utilize social media content to grow their businesses.
Who would have thought that the TikTok account ‘Pasming-Based’, which now has over 100 million likes, began as a bit of a whim off Bang Deka’s silly scheme. Bang Deka explained that whilst juggling his duties as an in-house legal counsel at the Indonesian Fintech Association, he would often use his breaks to edit videos using the CapCut app.
“During my lunch break, I’d usually open CapCut because I happened to have some spare time then. I still have lots of photos of myself from when I was a child and in high school, so I’d put those photos into CapCut templates and then upload them,” said Bang Deka.
Bang Deka explained that initially, it had never even crossed his mind to become a content creator. In the past, Bang Deka took part in the Abang None programme, where he was taught how to become a content creator, covering everything from public speaking and communication skills to networking. That’s when he began to focus on creating content. The uniqueness of his content lies in the ‘jedag-jedug’ (JJ) concept, which is usually associated with ‘jamet’ culture, but he also fills his account with his academic and professional achievements.
Another tip from Bang Deka, which he considers a game-changer, is that as a content creator, you should constantly interact with your followers. This not only allows him to gather unique stories from his followers but also ensures his ‘JJ’ content continues to evolve, with varied ideas contributed by his followers, naturally, whilst crediting Pasming-Based. Consequently, the ‘JJ’ content we see today, from ‘JJ getting into a university’, ‘JJ at the office’, ‘JJ about achievements’, and all manner of achievements, originates from Pasming-Based (usually indicated in the caption with #izinbangpasming).
From a business perspective, Bang Deka says that if you want your content to be watched or to get lots of views, especially in this era of marketing where people are constantly scrolling, having a ‘hook’ in your content is essential; the difference between engaging and unengaging content lies in the first 3 to 5 seconds. In his view, amidst the onslaught of technology and AI, creativity is the key differentiator between the top 1% and the rest of the competition.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” said Bang Deka, sharing a quote from the world of basketball to motivate students who are still hesitant to start a business. If we never try, we’ll never know whether we’ll succeed or fail.
Closing his session, Bang Deka reminded ITB students not to waste their time at university, particularly when it comes to networking. He said that ITB is one of the universities whose alumni remain among the best to this day; the solidarity that is forged during the time at university will continue to be used as well into the world of work, so they should cherish their relationships with their peers.
