In collaboration with the SBM ITB, Shell Indonesia held the Shell LiveWIRE Energy Solutions 2024 roadshow at the SBM ITB Auditorium, Bandung, on Tuesday (14/11). Shell LiveWIRE Energy Solutions 2024 is an entrepreneurship training organized by Shell and attended by young entrepreneurs with business ideas or who are running businesses in various sectors.

This program is a forum that encourages the development of entrepreneurship in new and renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia by providing support through developing the capabilities of the young generation interested in solving energy issues through business development in the energy sector. The potential for NRE in Indonesia is huge, including the potential for Solar Energy, which has a potential of reaching 3,295 GigaWatt, and Geothermal Energy, reaching 23 GigaWatt. However, utilization is now only around 322.6 MegaWatts for Solar Energy and 2,373.1 MegaWatts for Geothermal Energy.

Collaboration between government, private sector, and society is needed to maximize this potential. According to the Executive Director of the IBEKA Foundation Tri Mumpuni, communities through social entrepreneurs or Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES)  can focus on creating energy innovations that utilize the environmental potential in their area, such as hydroelectric power plants and the like.

“We build energy and the nation,” said Tri Mumpuni at the opening of the roadshow.

Realizing the vision of clean energy in Indonesia is undoubtedly a formidable task. However, a breakthrough in the transition to renewable energy is achievable by fostering collaboration among stakeholders, communities, and the youth.
